It’s the time of year when the leaves begin to fall, the smell of pumpkin spice fills the air, and the facial hair on men grows for weeks! The popular trend of not shaving in the month of November stems from foundations such as Movember, who aim to have an impact on the health of males.
The Movember Foundation is the leading global organization committed to changing the face of men’s health. This charity works year-round with global men’s health partners and clinical institutions to raise money and awareness for some of the biggest health issues faced by men. In particular, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.
For 30 days, the male employees of Murphy’s will grow a mustache that turns them into a walking, talking billboard for men’s health. To contribute to such an important cause, please visit the Men of Murphy’s donation page! Murphy’s Corporate Lodging will match a percentage of all proceeds raised!

Guests who stay in a Murphy’s Corporate Lodging longer than one week are often asked to participate in our feedback survey. This short questionnaire is an evaluation of the customers experience with us and is an important tool that can help shape the future of our company.
Starting the beginning of November, guests participating in the survey will have the opportunity to give back to an important cause by selecting one of four charities. Each month, Murphy’s Corporate Lodging will donate $250 to the charity with the most votes!

We are excited to announce that Michelle Neri has joined Murphy’s as our new General Manager for Dallas-Fort Worth. The DFW market continues to flourish and our ever growing team is ready for a full time, on location leader.

Michelle brings a wealth of knowledge to the role with over 30 years of experience in the Travel Industry plus Sales and Management. With her previous position leading an award winning sales team, she is a great fit with the company and our purpose of having extremely high standards.

Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Isabel is a graduate from Baylor University and brings a wealth of knowledge in customer service. “I am excited to be a part of such a special group of people and look forward to working alongside them!” Isabel expressed. On her down time, she enjoys golfing, sailing, and karaoke.

Michelena Borberg came to Murphy’s last summer as our Guest Services Supervisor. A year later, she has enhanced the efficiency of our Guest Services team and has earned her new role in our operations department as Assistant Operations Manager.
Vanessa Rivera also joined our guest services team last year, her hard work and dedication has paid off as we are thrilled to promote her as our new Guest Services Supervisor.
Cristina Umanzor started with Murphy’s over 7 years ago as a housekeeper. She quickly gained the title of housekeeping team lead, while consistently impressing management, and has recently been promoted to Operations Supervisor.

Bea, as her colleagues call her, started her career with Murphy’s as an office clerk and has worked her way up to our accounting department, currently as our Senior Accounting Associate. Her hard work and dedication to the company has been acknowledged on several occasions including being awarded Employee of Month as well as Employee of the Year. During her time with the company, Murphy’s has also been there to witness her become a wife and mother of two daughters.
“Having an employee serve the company for 18 years is truly a milestone,” said Sharon Freytag, Office Manager. “Beatrice is a very special employee. She truly exemplifies a driving work ethic and represents Murphy’s core values.”

Thumbtack’s fourth annual Small Business Friendliness Survey, which uses data from 18,000 small business owners to determine the best business environments in the country, has declared Texas the No. 1 state for business friendliness!
The list also included the top cities and 5 Texas locations were awarded the honors with Dallas claiming the No. 2 spot! Austin came in 4th, Houston 7th, San Antonio 10th and Fort Worth at No. 12. Since the start of the survey 4 years ago, all 5 of these Lone Star State cities have secured spots on the list.
According to the website, Dallas earned an A+ score in the rankings with its strengths in employment, labor and hiring, while Fort Worth fell from an A+ in previous years to an A-. Houston received the A+ mark in terms of overall friendliness, ease of starting a business, regulations, tax code, licensing and zoning.

Our free app brings the same great Murphy’s service right to the guests fingertips. Convenient access to personal reservation information is available on smart phones, tablets and even desktops. By simply logging in, guests are able to quickly obtain features such as check-in instructions, digital forms, property details, and area information with GPS compatibility plus much more!
